Next committee meeting: AGM Monday 30th January

Welcome to PrestwichBowls.co.uk

League Merit

The divisional league merit competitions will take place on Saturday August 20th. They are all 12 noon start, practice from 11:30. All competitions are £3 entry and pay on the day. The greens are as follows:

Division One - Prestwich Liberal Club

Division Two - Eagle & Child

Division Three - Allens Green

We have picked greens that are not used by any teams in that division and hope you will show your support for these competitions by doing your best to attend. This is a trial format and if it is found to be unsuccessful we will revert to a single merit competition the following year.

League Handicap

The league handicap will take place on Saturday September 3rd at Hopwood Unionist Club. After concerns about the green earlier this season, I am pleased to confirm that Dave Murray has done some excellent work on the surface and it is now getting back to its previously excellent condition. Don't forget that this competition is subsidised by your club's league fees and as such is free to enter. Again it's a 12 noon start, practice from 11:30.

Postponements

Just a reminder that the Match Secretary needs to be informed of any games called off within 48 hours of it being called off. This is so that I'm not chasing match cards for games that didn't take place and so that we can steer clear of match rules 6 and 12 which we are always reluctant to invoke.

Presentation Night

This years presentation night will take place on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH at Prestwich Cons. Tickets will be £5 each but for that you get the comedian Sid Scouse, the Eagle & Child's very own band Junkshun17 playing as well as a pie and peas supper. It's a great way to close out the season and celebrate being able to chuck your bowls in the cupboard for 6 months! There is also a bottle raffle that is traditionally well supported by the members and helps put some funds back into the league coffers to keep future events as cheap as possible.

Eric Redford

Eric's funeral was last Thursday and was attended by Alan Clough on behalf of the league. A card was sent to Alison too. RIP Eric. He's probably up there disagreeing with someone over bowls right now bless him!
